Beyond Law offers the following services to the public.  Please contact us to obtain more information about our services and to discuss your potential claim.

Motor Vehicle Accident Claims

Motor vehicle accidents can be extremely traumatic, both for you and your loved ones. If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident where another person was at fault, you are entitled to bring a lawsuit to seek compensation for your injuries and losses. Various types of damages include: pain, suffering, and loss of enjoyment of life; loss of income; and medical expenses. In addition to your lawsuit you will be entitled to statutory accident benefits through the automobile insurer. Navigating these two claims effectively is critical to fair compensation, and we are here to guide you through the process.

Accident Benefits Claims

If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident you are entitled to receive statutory accident benefits, regardless of whether you were at fault. Dealing with the insurance company to obtain these benefits can be overwhelming, and in many cases benefits are denied. It is therefore essential that you have proper representation to protect your interests and ensure you are receiving the benefits you should. We have experience litigating both catastrophic and non-catastrophic claims and have taken cases to arbitration where necessary.

Applications for accident benefits must be made within 30 days of receiving the forms. The forms necessary to apply for accident benefits may be found here. If the 30 days have passed or you need assistance filling out the forms, please call us and we would be pleased to help.

Wrongful Death Claims

There is nothing more painful than suddenly and unexpectedly losing a loved one. This loss can be magnified when the death was caused by the fault of someone else. We have experience pursuing wrongful death claims on behalf of grieving families and are dedicated to advancing our clients’ interests with care and compassion.

Disability Insurance Claims

When you purchase an insurance policy and pay the premiums, you expect the policy will protect you in your time of need. However, insurance companies often deny claims. If your insurer has improperly denied or terminated your disability benefits, we are here to help you. We will take the appropriate steps to have the insurer reconsider its decision, and in the event it does not, we will bring a lawsuit on your behalf.

Life Insurance Claims

When someone purchases life insurance they intend to provide protection for their loved ones in the event of their death. Unfortunately, insurance companies often attempt to deny claims based on pre-existing conditions or mistakes on the insurance application. If you are being denied payment under a life insurance policy, please contact us. We will stand with you and advocate on your behalf.

Occupiers’ Liability Claims

Property owners and occupiers are required by law to take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of people who enter their property. If they fail to meet this one duty, and that failure results in injury or death, you may be entitled to compensation. We have experience litigating a wide variety of occupiers’ liability claims including claims against municipalities, daycares, nursing homes, hospitals, sports and recreational facilities, home owners, and schools.

Municipal Claims

If you have been injured on city property you may have a claim for compensation for your injuries and losses. Municipal claims can include winter or summer road maintenance and repair, road design and signage, sidewalk maintenance and repair, Building Code inspection and enforcement, and recreational trail maintenance and repair. Please note that many municipalities require that notice of a claim be sent within 10 days of the incident.

Daycare Negligence

Childcare is a necessity for millions of people in Ontario. When you place your child in the care of daycare or childcare provider, you expect that your child will be kept safe, happy, and healthy. Sadly, this is not always the case. We hope you never have to experience the unthinkable, but if it happens we are here to help. If you have concerns about an injury or death suffered by your child while at a daycare or childcare facility, please give us a call.

Long-Term Care Negligence

Long-term care home residents are one of the most vulnerable segments of the population. They rely on the long-term care home and its staff for their safety, well-being, and physical and mental health. When your family member is placed in a long-term care home you expect they will be treated with dignity and competently cared for. This does not always happen. If your family member was injured while staying at a long-term care facility, please get in touch to discuss a potential claim.

Medical Malpractice

When in need of medical care you place your trust in doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals. Whether you’re sick or injured, you expect and deserve competent care. If you or a family members has suffered injury or death as a result of negligent medical care, please give us a call to arrange for a consultation.

Insurance Brokers’ Negligence

Obtaining insurance for your car, home, or business often starts with contacting an insurance broker. Their expertise is relied upon to ensure you get adequate insurance coverage. You want the peace of mind to know you are protected, no matter what. There are times, however, when you become sick or injured and discover that your coverage is insufficient. If this has happened, you may have a claim against your insurance broker for negligence. If you believe your insurance broker failed to provide adequate information and advice, please call us to discuss your potential claim.

Recreational and Sports Injuries

Recreational activities and sports are an essential part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. From mountain biking to rock climbing to hockey, we enjoy sports and recreational activities for both their physical and social benefits. However, not all operators take appropriate steps to ensure the safety of their participants. We have experience litigating claims on behalf of both adults and children who have been injured while participating in these activities. Please get in touch to discuss your potential claim.

Cyberbully and Bullying

In today’s digital world bullying has become increasingly common amongst school-aged children. This includes verbal abuse, physical abuse, and cyberbullying. The effects on your child can be significant and should be taken very seriously. Parents, guardians, schools, camps, or any other person or organization responsible for the bullying child may be liable for the child’s conduct. If your child has been the victim of bullying, please call us to arrange for a consultation.

Product Liability

We live in a world filled with products. We engage with them every day, whether it’s in our personal or professional lives. We should be able to trust that the companies behind these products make them properly, safely, and in accordance with the appropriate laws and standards. Unfortunately, this does not always happen. If you’ve been injured as a result of a defective product, please get in touch to discuss your potential claim.
